An Artist’s book about the afterlife of the legendary Hotel Nacional Rio by Oscar Niemeyer. Inaugurated in 1972, it was the focal point of Brazilian high-life during the eighties, up until it’s closure in 1995. The hotel was supposed to be renovated and re-opened for the FIFA football world cup of 2014. Olaf Nicolai visited the site in September 2011 to exhaustively document the hotel’s state of disrepair through hundreds of images.
